The four officers were suspended based on evidence of sectarian and racist text messages. The PSNI has offered little information about the text messages except to assure the public that the text messages are "deeply offensive."
The internal PSNI investigation wil continue and misconduct hearings are expected. The officers, Deputy Chief Constable Judith Gillespie stated, will be "robustly investigated" to uncover any evidence of misconduct in their roles as police officers.
