We extend our sympathies to the people of Omagh - who have already experienced so much loss to politically motivated violence. This young man was robbed of his life, less than a year into his chosen career.
It is difficult to see how such acts can progress the political objectives of those who carried it out - and they make the work of creating a just and peaceful society even more difficult. It is vital that both the Police and the public remain committed to the principle of human rights based policing, and that members of the community share any information they may have that can help bring the perpetrators to justice, and help reduce the threat to police officers and community members alike.

This is sick. We cannot go back to this. We must do everything we can to make sure we don't.

A horrific act that led to a tragic loss. There is absolutely no reason to go back to violence like this, and we - as a people - will not allow it to happen. Ronan Kerr died trying to make this a better place, and he will not be forgotten.

He will not be the last, all yous do-gooders condemning it will not change the fact that while britain interferes in irish affairs there will be irishmen who will take up arms against the invader.

I get what you are saying p.o'neil, but according to the very credible mcguinness (J118/The Fisherman) he was a republican, albeit, a republican who had no problem with harrassing fellow republicans and their immediate families for nothing more than being 'dissidents'. What can you expect? Afterall, being a dissident is a serious offence. It's more serious than rape, drug-dealing and house-breaking. Or atleast, it seems that way if you look at the case of Marian Price who is in isolation in an all-male prison.
